QR Code to App in Market
My first live wallpaper. (Note: This is a live wallpaper which requires android 2.1. currently only the nexus one has it officially, but other phones should have it soon.)
After choosing the live wallpaper, use the settings menu to choose what folder to pull images from and how often you want the image to change.
If people are still having force close issues, please let me know and if possible post a log using the log collector app in the marketplace.
Current features:
- Adjustable timer
- User specified SD Card folder
- Shifting when switching home pages (screen scrolling)
- Fade transition
- Double tap to change image
Future features:
- more transitions
- ???
Let me know what features you want!
Changelog:
- v0.6 – fixed a force closed bug with John Bibbs’ help (hopefully). Implemented double tapping to change the image.
- v0.5 – implemented a fade transition! ability to turn on and off stretching for users that don’t want it. subsample images that cause out of memory exceptions in attempt to still use them.
- v0.4 – put in the option to choose screen scrolling for those that don’t want it. able to choose the directory via the OI File Manager.
- v0.3 – added screen scrolling. if the picture is smaller than the virtual width, it will be scaled horizontally.
- v0.2 – added settings for timer and folder choice. lots of bullet proofing. if it still force closes, please let me know the circumstances, like what is in the folder you chose, or what you were doing to make it happen, as well as your phone and if you are using any special firmware. added an icon made by http://tango.freedesktop.org/Tango_Icon_Library
- v0.1 – first release, set timer to 5s, set folder to /<sdcard>/wallpaperphotos

It will not show any matches if your phone isn’t capable of displaying live wallpapers.

Yeah. The motorola droid currently doesn’t support live wallpapers. I expect that verizon or motorola will come out with an update soon for support of live wallpapers. Some users have updated their phones manually but that probably voids warranties.

You should include the option for image size so if a user wants to use an image that is 960×800 it will scroll (current version) or if they want to use an image like 480×800 (old version) it won’t scroll but also won’t stretch out the image.
In terms of transitions, I think the best and simplest is the fade transition like in the gallery slide show.

That’s a good idea, I’ll try to get that option out tonight.

Similar to the idea of maintaining 480×320 would be processing, much like wallswitch does. If selected the app tries to take the image and scale it to the screen. It doesn’t necessarily enable or disable scrolling so much as it takes images, like those I put on my sdcard directly from my digital camera, and proportions them so I’m no longer staring at someones chest. Despite how that may sound like a good thing, the entire image is nice also

Super Bug:
On my Moto Milestone with Android version 2.1
each time when i boot up my phone, wallpaper change to black blank, I need to manually switch to the next one in the flame and can works
Admin comment by yincrash · March 30, 2010 at 8:54 am
I believe the reason this happens is because the SD card isn’t mounted yet when the phone just starts up. It should load a picture as soon as the sd card mounts though.
Ricky · March 31, 2010 at 9:02 am
I think you are right, can i have a option to set some delay time to load photo when first time boot up?
Ricky · March 31, 2010 at 9:18 am
PS: currently the software cannot load a picture as soon as the sd card mount, that why i suggest to have an option to set some delay time to load photo when first time boot
Ricky · March 31, 2010 at 11:10 am
because i set reload frequency= 1 hour, so when my phone boot up and got black, next time change to my wallpaper will 1 hour later.
that why im asking for a first boot up delay option so my phone can got the wallpaper quickly, or i can only do it manually

I realize this may not be possible, but any way to utilize the Picasa Web Album sync feature of the 2.1 Gallery? I have most of my pics on there. Thanks!

I have looked into it. I will look into it a little more. Sadly I haven’t had much time to devote toward development. Hopefully I can get some more time soon.

I have the Moto Droid, v2.1
Just loaded your program last night. I get a picture at first, but if I double tap then I get a black screen that says to choose a folder with images. If I double tap, I get a picture back again. If I double tap again, it goes back to the black screen. I tweaked the settings, chose different folders for the pics, and the most I can get it to do is if I double tap, cycle thru 3 pics. The folder has probably 60 or so pics to choose from. Any ideas?
